Steffen has 15+ years of professional design experience and a Master’s Degree in Contemporary Design from Sotheby’s Institute of Art, London. Prior to founding Studio MTK, Steffen was the Creative Director at a $1B+ Real Estate Investment Fund in New York City, where he managed a talented team of architects and interior designers and oversaw the design and renovation of 350+ residential properties throughout the city, including many of Brooklyn and Manhattan’s most impressive brownstones and townhouses. Steffen boasts a creative mind versed in all facets of architecture, interior design, residential construction and real estate investment, including emerging home trends, methods, markets and materials, and has an advanced knowledge of Modern and Contemporary design history. An avid surfer and loving father, you’ll likely find Steffen out in the lineup at Ditch (or in line at Ditch Witch), coaching little league or tucked away in the sauna he built behind our house.

Sara has 15+ years of high level retail management experience, holding District and Regional positions at companies such as Anthropologie & Acne Studios. While Steffen leads the design side of the business, Sara is in charge of Studio MTK Rental Property Management services and all back-of-house business operations. Sara is a certified aromatherapist, practitioner of the Enneagram, reader of birth charts and a resource for holistic wellness and natural healing. A lifelong lover of vintage fashion and style, you may run into Sara at her favorite local shop, Deep Blue Vintage, where she assists her good friend and shop owner on a part time basis throughout the Summer.
